Firezone is a Winter 2022 YC company that makes zero-trust remote access software for organizations. On iPhone, its native app is the mobile client for Firezone’s access platform, which the company describes as an open source way to manage remote access with least-privileged, group-based policies tied to identity-provider data. (ycombinator.com; apps.apple.com)

The iPhone app is for people who need secure access to private resources from a phone, such as employees, IT teams, and other users in a managed organization. Firezone says signed-in users can reach resources through the app, and browsers and other programs will use it automatically to connect to those resources. (firezone.dev; apps.apple.com)

Getting started requires downloading Firezone from the Apple App Store and granting VPN permission, then notification permission, before signing in. Apple lists the app as Firezone by Firezone, Inc. in Utilities, and the verified iPhone metadata says it requires iOS 16.0 or later. (firezone.dev; apps.apple.com)

Firezone’s docs note a practical limitation: when the app is not running, or after you sign out, you cannot access private resources and the device returns to its normal DNS and internet behavior. The same docs also say the app is available on iPhone and iPad. (firezone.dev)

For organizations using Firezone Cloud EU, the docs describe a control-plane setting that can be selected before sign-in; older clients use specific EU base URLs. The App Store listing also notes managed app configuration support for MDM, which can apply settings such as an account slug and connect-on-start behavior. (firezone.dev; apps.apple.com)
