How to research an app

Find relevant competitors

Choose a platform, country and free or paid chart. Filter the loaded apps by publisher or category to narrow the field. Search Apple’s catalog above to find apps outside the supplied chart.

Read ratings in context

Compare average stars with the number of ratings and the latest release date. A high average with a small sample tells a different story from thousands of ratings. Neither metric measures downloads or revenue.

Inspect the product and its history

Open an app’s name for its profile, Apple screenshots and description where supplied. Use Rank history to inspect observed positions, then export the chart or history as CSV for your own analysis.

Data sources, coverage & methodology

What these numbers mean

Chart positions come directly from Apple for the selected platform, storefront and free or paid chart. Category filters narrow this overall chart; they are not separate category rankings. Sorting by a metric leaves the original Apple rank intact.

Apple’s public chart pages can supply up to 200 ordered positions. Coverage varies by platform and storefront. If the full chart cannot be verified, the site uses Apple’s smaller public feed or Watch chart; the coverage above always shows the actual number loaded. Search returns up to 24 matches beyond the charts; these have no chart rank.

Average stars and rating totals cover all versions reported by Apple in the selected country. Rating totals are not written-review counts. Downloads and revenue estimates are not provided by these sources. Rank history is collected by this site from observed Apple charts; it is not backfilled or estimated.

Source & freshness

Charts refresh on visits after one hour; listing metadata refreshes after 24 hours. During an Apple outage, saved data may remain visible for up to seven days. Older ratings are labeled “Last saved rating.”

Apple TV positions use Apple’s explicit platform chart. Ratings are shown only when Apple supplies an exact total in this platform context; iPhone catalog ratings are not substituted. Some listings share information across devices. Open an app profile for its official platform screenshots and compatibility. Legacy iPhone version and operating-system metadata is omitted.

Successful app searches register ongoing monitoring and immediately check both overall charts, reusing genuine observations no older than one hour where available. Pasted App Store links select their supported country. Apps outside the supplied positions remain tracked with a null rank. Rank history records one fresh observation per six-hour interval for each tracked storefront, platform and chart, and retains observations for 180 days. Scheduled collection uses WordPress cron and can run late when the site receives no visits. A gap is not a rank of zero: the app was either outside the supplied chart, or no observation was collected. CSV exports include source and retrieval dates.
