Night Sky for iPhone: plan a small observing session

Use Night Sky’s object search and sky tags to give a stargazing session a clear starting point.

Night Sky is a planetarium app from iCandi Apps Ltd., identified by Apple app ID 475772902. The current listing describes pointing an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch toward the sky to identify objects, along with search, augmented-reality exploration and personal Sky Tags. Its optional Night Sky + and Night Sky + Aura subscriptions cover additional features; the listing should be checked for the exact options available.

Give the evening one achievable target

Instead of starting with every label visible on the screen, choose one object or constellation you want to find. Check the observing location and time shown by the app, then use the view as a guide while you look at the real sky. A recognizable nearby pattern gives you something to return to if you lose your place.

Sky Tags can hold notes or photographs. Keep a record of what you hoped to find and what you actually saw; an object displayed on a map is not necessarily visible through clouds or local obstructions.

Choose extras around a real use

The listing’s current feature set is broad, including shared observing and AI-assisted interaction. Before subscribing, identify the particular extra you would use repeatedly and confirm its requirements on the official Night Sky site and in the app. For example, keeping a personal observing record is a different need from exploring an augmented-reality scene indoors. A longer feature list does not necessarily improve a short outdoor session.
