Put the purpose in the request
Venmo’s listing describes sending and receiving money and splitting a request among several people. For a shared expense, begin with a clear record of what is being divided and which amounts have already been paid. A concise note can prevent a request from looking unfamiliar to the recipient.
Check the recipient separately
Before sending money, verify the intended person through a channel you already trust. A familiar display name or picture alone is not enough to resolve a confusing request. For a group expense, explain the calculation so each participant can recognize their share rather than asking everyone to infer it from one total.
Read the specific offer
Payment, transfer, card and other financial features have their own terms and eligibility. Use the current in-app information and official support for fees, timing and protection details; an old app listing is not a reliable statement of all those terms.
