Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite: Word, Excel and file transfer on early iPhone

The original Quickoffice suite combined document and spreadsheet editing with several routes for moving files.

Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite was the app identified by Apple ID 310723177 in the record preserved at this October 2, 2009 URL. The advertised suite combined Word-document editing and Excel-spreadsheet editing with several file-transfer functions.

Editing was only part of the workflow

The historical description listed Wi-Fi transfer from a desktop, access to MobileMe iDisk, sending files by email and mounting the device as a drive. Those routes addressed a basic mobile-office problem: a document is useful on the phone only if it can arrive there and leave in a usable form.

A document editor and a spreadsheet editor also have different jobs. The first emphasizes text and document structure; the second must preserve the relationship between cells and their contents. The brief original feature list does not establish support for every file version, formula or formatting choice.

The named services and transfer methods belong to the historical edition. They are not presented as working options today, and the phrase “six products in one” should be read as the developer’s packaging of the feature list.

Current availability and compatibility remain unverified. No file-import, editing or export test was performed. This profile preserves the original suite’s scope without promising recovery of documents from a legacy installation.
