iPhone Moon Phase: a date-based lunar web widget

The original widget showed lunar phases, accepted another date and counted down to the next full moon.

iPhone Moon Phase was a web widget at microseconds.com/imoon. The September 3, 2007 article described three functions: showing the current lunar phase, accepting another date and counting the days to the next full moon.

From today to a date of your choice

The date entry made this more than a decorative moon image. It let the reader ask a different question from “what does the Moon look like now?” A future or past date could be the starting point, while the countdown supplied another way to express the same cycle.

For a preserved result, the input date matters as much as the graphic. The original article does not document the calculation method, time-zone handling or precision, so this profile does not treat a historical output as a verified astronomical measurement.

It also does not establish sky visibility from a particular location. A phase display and a local viewing forecast answer different questions. Current operation of the original widget has not been tested; this page records its documented functions and historical identity.
