Converter: more than 70 measurement units on the early iPhone

The browser tool at converter.aapl.org.uk grouped more than 70 units into nine conversion categories.

Converter was an iPhone web utility at converter.aapl.org.uk. The August 5, 2007 listing advertised conversion between more than 70 measurement units across nine categories. The domain and feature count identify the historical tool; the name alone is too broad to identify a current app.

Choose the quantity before the unit

Categories matter because a conversion is meaningful only when the two units describe the same kind of quantity. Length can be expressed in different units, for example, while a length-to-weight calculation requires additional information about an object. A grouped interface can help keep that distinction visible.

The archived description does not list all nine categories or identify its precision and rounding rules. It therefore supports the advertised scale of the tool, but not an invented catalogue of supported currencies, scientific constants or specialist measurements.

Current operation and calculation accuracy have not been tested. This historical overview records the original Converter’s scope without treating its address as evidence of an official Apple product or guaranteeing the results of an old implementation.
