iPad apps: choose software that uses the screen you have

Evaluate layout, input, window behavior, and file handling on your actual iPad instead of treating it as a larger phone.

Look for a layout that serves the task

An iPad app should make its space useful. A reading app might show a comfortable page; an editor might keep tools accessible without covering the work. Larger buttons alone do not establish a better tablet experience. Inspect screenshots of the iPad edition and, where possible, a real workflow.

Apple’s guide to multiple windows explains supported window behavior. Features depend on software and the app involved, so check your device rather than assuming every demonstration applies to every model.

Match the input to how you will work

Decide whether the task benefits from touch, a keyboard, or a stylus. A drawing workflow may need precise input; a writing workflow may depend on comfortable text selection and shortcuts. Try ordinary gestures and corrections, not just the impressive feature shown in a trailer.

If Apple Pencil is part of the plan, consult Apple’s compatibility list for the exact Pencil and iPad pairing. Similar-looking accessories and tablet names can conceal different requirements. Software support and hardware compatibility are separate questions.

Follow the file beyond the app

Open a sample from the location you normally use, edit it, then export or share a copy. Confirm that another intended recipient can open the result. If you switch between devices, inspect synchronization and any separate licensing before moving substantial work.

Choose apps that make these routine steps understandable. An elaborate tablet setup is less useful if every file handoff requires a workaround. This guide offers practical evaluation criteria, not a claim that an iPad can replace every computer workflow or that a paid accessory is required to make it productive.
