RDM+ Remote Desktop was SHAPE Services’ app for controlling a computer from a mobile device. The June 22, 2009 archive entry links Apple app ID 303097630 and explains that RDM+ Desktop software had to be installed on the computer being accessed.
A small screen becomes the control surface
The saved feature list includes clicks, dragging, scrolling, keyboard input, shortcuts, zooming and panning. Portrait and landscape modes offered different ways to fit a larger desktop into the phone view. The challenge was translating desktop input into manageable actions on the handset.
The historical description advertised access to more than one computer over Wi-Fi or a carrier connection, with support for then-current Mac and Windows systems. Its claims about working through network address translation and firewalls do not establish that a present-day installation will connect securely or without configuration.
Both ends of the connection matter
A remote-control app needs more than a surviving mobile interface. The host software, operating system and connection infrastructure all affect whether the session can work. The original promise of updates and support should not be read as an ongoing service commitment.
Current availability and compatibility are unverified. No remote session, credential exchange or network configuration was attempted for this historical article.
