Updated October 15, 2026: This page now preserves our May 2023 coverage of Skylight Forecast. We could not verify a current US App Store download for the original app, and its former website now redirects to unrelated content. The source below is an archived copy of Lux’s product page, not a current download service.
Skylight Forecast was Lux Optics’ iPhone app for planning around evening light. Rather than simply showing the time of sunset, it presented forecasts for golden hour, sunset and afterglow. Lux’s October 2023 product page, preserved by the Internet Archive, describes atmospheric information as the basis for those forecasts.

A forecast for the light, not just the clock
The distinction is useful for understanding the app’s original purpose. Knowing when the sun sets helps choose a time to go outside; a forecast of the evening light helps decide whether that outing might be worth planning around. Neither is a promise of a particular photograph. Local clouds and the view from your chosen position still matter.
The archived product page also showed Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. These put the forecast within reach without requiring a separate visit to the app. The screenshots retained here come from our original 2023 article and show that period’s presentation.

The original launch
Lux announced Skylight in May 2023. This original launch post remains part of the historical record:

Use the archived website to understand what Skylight offered at the time. We have removed the obsolete installation link and do not recommend obtaining an old app package from a download mirror. For a photography outing, check current local conditions and leave enough time to reach a suitable viewpoint before the light changes.
