iPhone Tip Calculator: the original baysw.com web tool

This 2007 page covered the tip calculator at tips.baysw.com, a separate tool from other early iPhone calculators.

This iPhone Tip Calculator was the web tool at tips.baysw.com. The July 16, 2007 listing described a straightforward tip calculator, but preserved no detailed list of controls. Its destination distinguishes it from Danny Goodman’s TipCalc and other similarly named tools in the early iPhone directory.

A small calculation at the table

A percentage calculator serves a narrow task: converting a chosen rate and a bill amount into a number. For example, 15 percent of 40 is 6. That arithmetic example illustrates the category; it is not a claim about this site’s preset rates, currency handling or default settings.

The original record does not establish whether the tool split bills, rounded totals or treated tax separately. Those choices can change what a displayed total means, so they should not be inferred from the generic name.

Current operation of tips.baysw.com has not been verified. This historical profile identifies the original service and its purpose without presenting a replacement calculation as a test of the old interface.
