Apple’s Annual September Event is around the corner. 4 new iPhones are set to be released: iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. Today, we’ll cover all the changes coming to the Pro models.
A new “Capture” capacitive button is expected to appear on both Pro models, on the right side of the device where the mmWave antenna currently sits on certain models. This button will provide fine control for camera focus, zoom, and other features. This comes just after Apple introduced the Action Button, replacing the mute switch which had been a staple of the iPhone for decades.
2. The iPhone 16 Pro’s display size is increasing to 6.3″, up from the 15 Pro’s 6.1″. The Pro Max will go up to 6.9″, from last year’s 6.7″. However, the difference in iPhone body size will be minimal thanks to a super thin border technology that will allow borders of 1.2mm on the 16 Pro and 1.15 mm on the 16 Pro max. These will be the thinnest borders on any iPhone, ever. There have also been reports of a higher maximum brightness, yet to be confirmed.
Other changes will include:
A18 Pro, modest speed improvements with a significant neural engine boost. 8GB ram standard across all models.
A new “Desert Titanium” (Bronze/Deep Gold) color, replacing Navy on the 15 Pros.
Polished Titanium finish instead of last year’s brushed titanium.
Single percentage points battery size increases, thanks to slightly larger physical enclosures.
A new 48MP Ultrawide sensor on both Pro models. There are also reports that the 16 Pro Max (exclusively) will benefit from a larger main sensor. The regular 16 Pro is expected to receive the 5x telephoto zoom from the 15 Pro Max.
Better networking: Wifi 7, etc.
An improved thermal structure, for less overheating and improved sustained performance.
40W wired charging, up from 27W, and 20W MagSafe charging, up from 15W currently.
A new microphone with a better signal to noise ratio, for clearer dictation and AI benefits.
All in all, the 16 Pros are set to be a respectable improvement over the already acclaimed 15 Pro series. Will you be upgrading next month?
