Sounds like you have never played Grand Theft Auto 1 or 2 then? I love the retro top down view and the controls are pretty straightforward once you get used to them. Not sure what version you are playing but the GPS does show your position (red dot) plus the intro story played only once for me… are you sure you managed to get past the tutorial. Give the game a bit more time it really is very good.
