In a world where basic information is open and at hand for everyone to see, there’s no excuse for being ignorant of the world around us.  There’s no doubt that humanity is heading closer and closer towards globalization.  Originally published as a website by the C.I.A., the World Factbook contains the basic economic, political, and social information that should be kept in mind when we interact with the world outside of the U.S.  The World Factbook 2010 app brings hundreds of pages of information into the palm of your hand.

Simple were the times when reality was exactly as we saw it. Now, apps are introducing augmented experiences to what’s right in front of our face. These “augmented reality” apps show what’s there in conjunction with what’s not, and could very well be the future of how we perceive reality, by enhancing it with information, fabrications, suggestions, others’ feedback, and advertisements. With the sheer amount of LBS-inspired social networking apps floating around, there is bound to be some crossover or commonalities between them. However, the release of Loopt Star hits a little too close to the app that started it all — Foursquare.
