Hooray to all the Mac lovers. One of my favorite apps — Headset — is finally available for iPhone/Mac (formerly it was only an iPhone/Windows software).

Save your buck and never buy again an always breaking wired headsets for your online VoIP communication. Why bother if you have quality speaker and microphone in your iPhone? The app connects iPhone wirelessly to your desktop or notebook computer (you have to only install a free dekstop software) and voila — you can call on Skype, Google Talk, AIM etc and have all your audio coming in and out of your iPhone, isn’t it great?

But there is more to it! You can RECORD your conversations! You can also have a flexibility to walk out to another room from your computer since you are connected to it via WiFi. Check it out!

Whoodl Are You?

While the human brain is capable of many things, remembering names is not always one of them. Well…there’s an app to help that. Whoodl allows you to input names along with identifying keywords so that you can easily recall who people are the next time you see them. Even if they are not particularly noteworthy or contact-worthy people, this still helps avoid the embarassing “Hey…you” moments. All you have to do is search your names list before you anticipate running into a certain group of people or enter the identifying keywords into the search when you run into someone whose name is beyond your memory, and you will forever be known as the person who is good with names.

IPALers, I am pleased to introduce the latest member of the Tapbots family. Calcbot is a mere 3 days old and brings a much needed upgrade to the calculator community. It goes beyond your basic functions to include advanced functions (e.g. sine, cosine, etc.), and ensures nothing is lost by automatically tracking your calculations history. Even as you are performing a particular operation, it shows you exactly what you’re calculating so you can be sure you’re not making any silly PEMDAS-related errors. And it doesn’t stop there; Calcbot’s sleek design is flawless and modern, and its interface is simultaneously updated and user-friendly. Though you may be skeptical because you already have a calculator on your device, let me be the first to tell you that Calcbot makes that calculator obsolete. This is a must-have download, and a great addition to the Tapbots family we know and love.

Whoever thought that software would become a self-defense weapon? With UrgentPic, that’s exactly what happens. The app enables you to take a picture whenever you are in a dangerous situation and then send it, an alert, and your location to designated contacts. Therefore, your contacts not only know what’s going on, where you are and why you need urgent help, but if you should unfortunately need evidence to present to the authorities, you and those close to you have it. Pulse News is not your average news app. It is an app that allows you to keep track of all the news sites you frequent and to have them ready for you to read when you access the app. You scroll up and down to view your list of saved news websites and left to right to view excerpts from the features for the day that are on those news sites. It is an app that is really well done and easy to use. The interface is simple yet dynamic, allowing you to scroll from one news website to the next very easily.
