Facebook Messenger is the coolest app in AppStore at the moment — users can call easily talk to their Facebook friends for free using VoIP, regardless of location. Additional features allow users to send pictures, browse message history, view a friend’s wall, use emoticons, receive instant replies with Apple push notifications, and setup sound notifications and multi-tasking support.

App to Watch For: Facebook MessengerPosted in Social Networking on 28 Jan 2011

Exciting news! I just received word from Crisp App, a fresh new app company, that they will be releasing a Facebook Messenger app very soon. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking: another Facebook messenger, really? Well, this one stands apart from the rest. You see, Crisp App’s Facebook Messenger will enable an element that has never been seen before in the realm of Facebook chat: audio calls. That’s right, you can engage in the classic chat, or you can essentially call your Facebook friends right from the app. Even if they’re using a web browser to conduct their Facebook activities, the invitation to engage in the call will pop up as a link, and the call can proceed as normal. This means you won’t have to use up your minutes to verbally communicate with all your friends and family, it will be free to call people no matter where in the world they are (as long as they have access to Facebook), and you can add a whole new dimension to your Facebook fun. Other fabulous features of Facebook Messenger include: a built-in browser, the ability to send photos taken with your iPhone camera or from your phone’s photo library through the chat, an extensive chat history (although limited to communications conducted within the app), and a user-friendly interface that facilitates the experience. Keep your eyes peeled for an exclusive video review in which I will demonstrate all of this (and more!) and enable you to share in the excitement of this highly anticipated app.
