This app at first may seem a bit obvious since it is so much like the website of the same name. However, the reason why I felt it was important to write a blog about the NPR music app is that a lot of websites that have corresponding apps fail to do what NPR music did so well and that is create an app that represents the website and stays true to its purpose but is still easy and simple to use.

Guitar Hero is everywhere. Little kids play it. Grandmas have tried it – (before giving it up because of arthritis). It’s so addictive that students stop studying to play it. You can probably find at least one kid with Guitar Hero in a college dorm’s hallway(personal experience). Guitar Hero has conquered the world, and it has finally invaded the one place where it has never been before: The world of iPhone & iPod Touch. Read the rest of this entry »

Next killer app by Smule: Glee

Many of us lack musical talent.  But we want and need to be heard. And here comes the newest app from Smule called Glee.
The Glee app allows users to sing songs from the official soundtrack of Glee show, record their songs and share them with friends.
The app looks like the next big success of Smule. In fact it is the coolest app by Smule that I have tried. I’m not a great singer but the app make me sing and love it! The app corrects the quality of the song in realtime by enhancing the voice and adding a second, third, and even fourth voice to the song. And if you don’t want to sing alone and want others to join your song, you can share your song with your friends over email, Facebook, MySpace or Twitter. As your friends join your songs, those voices will be added.
The app is available for iPhone and iPad and priced at $2.99

Another classic from creators of Ocarina, Leaf Trombone, and I Am T-Pain, Magic Piano is one of those WOW apps available at launch of iPad.

The app allows to play preloaded songs or just practice setting different difficulty levels depending on your expertise or mood.

Impress your friends with how quickly you’ve mastered “Flight of the Bumblebee” and “Fur Elise”, or amuse yourself playing “Heart and Soul”. And if you’re tired of playing alone, travel around the Smule Globe to find other Piano users and enjoy “duet mode”. See embedded visual tour – Magic Piano in action. Sounds and looks really great!

More videos: Fur Elise and Turkish March
