Simple were the times when reality was exactly as we saw it. Now, apps are introducing augmented experiences to what’s right in front of our face. By utilizing the iPhone camera, many apps enable you to see things that aren’t immediately there, be it stores and restaurants in the nearby areas, information about your surroundings, or explosions of cars you see that you don’t particularly like. These “augmented reality” apps show what’s there in conjunction with what’s not, and could very well be the future of how we perceive reality, by enhancing it with information, fabrications, suggestions, others’ feedback, and advertisements. Not So Angry BirdsPosted in Games on 18 Jun 2010

It has recently been brought to my attention that the #1 paid app on the iPhone app store, Angry Birds, has over 60,000 ratings, 54,000 of which have merited 5 stars…and these numbers keep climbing. So, of course, I just had to download the game to see why Angry Birds is causing such a fuss. And, naturally, I wanted so badly to defy the popular vote and dislike it; I couldn’t. Oil Spill Apps |

The BP Oil Spill in the Gulf Coast is the worst spill to date and is bound to affect at least everyone in the USA, if not everyone worldwide. Since everyone will not always have their computers, TVs, or newspapers around them, many apps have been developed so that people can keep track of this disaster as it spreads and washes ashore. Guitar Hero is everywhere. Little kids play it. Grandmas have tried it – (before giving it up because of arthritis). It’s so addictive that students stop studying to play it. You can probably find at least one kid with Guitar Hero in a college dorm’s hallway(personal experience). Guitar Hero has conquered the world, and it has finally invaded the one place where it has never been before: The world of iPhone & iPod Touch. Read the rest of this entry » |

LBS: Savvy Social Tool Turned Marketing DreamPosted in Business, Entertainment, Finance, Games, Lifestyle, Miscellaneous, Navigation, Social Networking, Travel, Utilities on 03 Jun 2010

While a great deal of energy has been devoted to how LBS has affected social networking, there is one other realm that has experienced its profound effects. The world of marketing has not only changed with the introduction of social networking media, but the recent fad of social LBS game/apps is adding a new dimension to how people find and experience places and products. Because the apps are so fun and social, people tend to forget how much advertising and marketing play into them. Fortunately, there are no annoying ad banners, but the simple listing of a nearby place or product is enough to get its name out there and known. Couple that with the fact that all your friends are there or you read an interesting review about it, and bam! — consumer base is multiplied.
