Ever wish you had a more mobile or accessible way to receive payments? Are you looking for an easy solution to accepting credit cards without the hassle that can be associated with it? Square is the answer to these conundrums and more. As one of the hottest finance apps out there, it enables your iPhone (or iPad or iPod Touch) to accept all major credit cards in order to suit your individual or business needs. No contract, monthly fees, or merchant accounts are required in order to use the app — just the Square credit card reader that plugs into your headphone jack (and is sent to you for free in the mail when you register). Once Square is downloaded (again, for free) and you have activated your account, you are fully able to swipe any Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit cards and receive payments, simple as that. However, while the services are free to use, the only stipulation is that Square receives 3% of the transaction. However, that is but a minor detail, given the fact that you can accept credit cards anywhere and for any reason. This will make IOUs with friends infinitely easier to settle or avoid, it will open more doors for activities like garage sales, and it will enable you to have more (and more mobile) payment portals at your business. The uses for Square are endless, taking payment possibilities far outside the box.

Everyone knows the (fairly) old addage “time is money” and as we get better and better at managing our money, we’re growing more attached to this idea.  But these days money moves so fast and the economy changes so quickly, we cannot keep up.  The stock of a company might take years to build up, and could plummet 25% in the time it takes to get coffee.  To protect investments and make sure that we don’t lose something that has taken years to build up, people need to have immediate and direct access to information regarding the stock market.  Of course there’s an app for that (a free app at that!).

LBS: Savvy Social Tool Turned Marketing Dream

While a great deal of energy has been devoted to how LBS has affected social networking, there is one other realm that has experienced its profound effects. The world of marketing has not only changed with the introduction of social networking media, but the recent fad of social LBS game/apps is adding a new dimension to how people find and experience places and products. Because the apps are so fun and social, people tend to forget how much advertising and marketing play into them. Fortunately, there are no annoying ad banners, but the simple listing of a nearby place or product is enough to get its name out there and known. Couple that with the fact that all your friends are there or you read an interesting review about it, and bam! — consumer base is multiplied.
