I’ll just get straight to the point with this one.  If you’re like me and you love listening to music or making it, this app is one of the best I’ve seen in the app store.  Beatwave is an app that allows you to make your own awesome beats without any musical knowledge.

Beatwave helps you make great beats by repeating waves of notes you tell it to play by highlighting a grid.  Going up or down on the grid plays a higher or lower note; going left to right plays the same note over the course of the wave.  You can customize the sounds produced by the notes at the top under the “sounds” tab.  The tempo (speed) of the wave and the tone of the notes can also be adjusted under their respective tabs at the top.  And if you’re feeling really adventurous, try the layering tool at the bottom.  Layering allows you to play up to four different patterns on the same wave.  I found that this feature was particularly useful because each layer can hold a different sound, creating colorful and intricate beats.

I think the developers for this app did a marvelous job and I would suggest this to anyone, especially because it’s FREE.  Many of the users who reviewed this app in the store agree that this app is definitely one worth checking out (it has a 4+ rating).  One reviewer complained that the app didn’t come with specific patterns for you to try out, but I think that makes this app even better because it gives you free range to experiment and make whatever kinds of beats you want (It does come with five demos, but these are complicated and you’re better off making your own anyway).
