Chances are you want to look good and stay in shape but aren’t near where you want to be. We all know that exercise is the way to go if you really want to stay in shape (diets almost always fail). But who has time to exercise these days? We work all day and when we get home all we want to do is relax or go out and have fun. There’s simply not enough time in the day or energy in our bodies to stick more hard work into our schedules. Hundred PushUps takes the notions that we don’t have the time to work out or don’t know how to get in shape and throws it out the window.
The app claims it can get your upper body in shape in six weeks with only about 30 minutes of effort per week. And I don’t doubt it because the plan seems easy enough. On the first day, you tell the app how many consecutive pushups you can do. Then it calculates a program that includes the number of pushups and number of reps you need to do for each day in the six week program. It also comes with a simple tutorial that includes a repeating clip of a proper pushup and tips on how to perform one. If you’re worried that you’ll tired out before you make it to the point where you can do 100 consecutive pushups, the first “tip for the week” I got was that you should give yourself a rest day or two between each day of the program. On top of that, it only expects you to put in three days per week so you don’t have to worry about crunching in a workout every day.
The program requires a certain amount of disciple, as does any attempt to get back/stay in shape. I have not run into any problems with the app, but one of the customer reviewers raised the point that the app does not account for age and therefore does not work for older people who cannot heal as quickly as the younger users of this app. Otherwise, I think it’s great and it’s a good buy at $.99. You can also get the companions to this app, Two Hundred Situps; Two Hundred Squats; and Twenty Chinups, for a full body workout for the same price.
