Nowadays, a lot of people don’t cook their own meals at home. Some find themselves too busy, others too poor to afford good food (I’m talking to my fellow college students here), and still others who are afraid of burning their house down. It all boils down to the belief that cooking is a boring, difficult, esoteric, and overall displeasing experience. But with the Dinner Spinner Pro app from Allrecipes.com, cooking makes its way back into the list of desirable forms of dining. This app is a fun take on choosing recipes to prepare and makes cooking easy by providing all the steps for making a great meal.
If you have no idea where to begin or what you’re looking for, the Dinner Spinner Pro helps you find a recipe by shuffling the kinds of dishes, ingredients, and cooking time. Just shake your iPhone or iPod Touch and it will reshuffle your options. If you like some of the options, say the kind of dish and the main ingredient, but not another, say the cooking time, you can finger over the cooking time row and hit the “Spin Categories” button to choose another time. Once you’ve come to a selection that is to your liking, hit the “View Matches” button and you’ll get a long list of recipes that fit under the criteria you’ve selected. You’ll get a list of ingredients, instructions, and user ratings for every dish.
I did find a few things that turned me off from it. You have to sign up with the Allrecipes website before you can save your recipes or your shopping list. The app is also a little pricey at $2.99. But it’s a useful app and for me, at least, it’s a great solution to the problem of not knowing what to eat.
