YouTube Killed TelevisionPosted in Social Networking on 01 Apr 2010 |

While apps may have started off, back in the day, with more of a utility focus, it safe to say that entertainment is taking it over. As we gain more and more access to shows and movies online, apps come out that allow us to access them as well, ensuring we always have entertainment at our fingertips, no matter where we are. The same is now also going for specific YouTube channels — even though there is the general YouTube app, people become so crazed by specific YouTube phenomena that there are apps specifically made for them. This makes sense, as many YouTube channels are just as entertaining, if not more so, than many shows that exist on the air.
Internet Killed Television is one YouTube channel – turned – app that has received a lot of buzz, as it follows the day-to-day lives of quirky characters, Charles and Alli. For the fans out there, this free app is a dream. Not only does it allow you to see all of the episodes on all of the related YouTube channels and videos — from CTFxC as well as Charles, Alli, and Trippy — but it also links you to their various blogs, updates, and other apps. While I do not follow any of the Charles and Alli movement, the app alone, with the hours upon hours of amusement it offers, is enough to pique my interest. I can see app-channels like this becoming the future of entertainment, and due to their “realness” and relevance to modern, ordinary people, even edging out their television counterparts.
