Parents will love this. Kids, probably not.
Safe Driver, a free iPhone application created by Dangerous Decisions, records a car’s top speed, excessive acceleration, breaks, and turns using the GPS system. It also records when it’s turned on and when it’s turned off.
The purchased version has more features, such as custom speed limits, warnings etc. It also mails or texts right away whenever your child goes over the speed limit along with a map tracing the routes he or she took.
The idea may sound great to the parents. There is no question this app will lessen the amount of teenage car accidents. But I’m not so sure how this would sit with the kids who might potentially feel that their privacy is being violated by a device that might go as far as tracking the route they took, although the free version isn’t too bad.
