Go! Running BuddyPosted in Health & Fitness on 03 Nov 2009 |

It’s a running tracker for iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s similar to other applications as Runkeeper, or commercial products like Nike +,
but I combine the best of both: you only need the iPhone/iPod and it calculates your speed using the built-in ACCELEROMETER. Also you can use the GPS.
- What makes my app different or better than the rest?
First app which uses the accelerometer for tracking your speed. The using of accelerometer instead of GPS improves the battery life, the accuracy of the speed calculated and you don’t need to have a good signal (GPS signal) to start your workout (and you can use it with iPod Touch). It works with the movements of your arm (not only your arm, all your body is in movement). An armband is required, but I think the 90% of the people who runs with the iPhone use it.
In addition, tha app has a cool interface, three languages (English, Spanish and French), audio cues (it notifies about time or distance. It’s not Text-to-Speech, but I’m working on it), history (you can use the history as programs), programs (and custom programs), control of the iPod library inside the app (with the option of playing a “Special song”), information in miles or meters. The information tracked is distance, time, speed, pace and calories, and you can select the distance, time or speed of your workout (with the speed the iPhone vibrates is you are under the selected speed. The vibration is also used with the programs). And the price 1,99$ (1,59€), I think it deserves
In the next updates, the program will include GPS data representation on the map and export the GPS data on a gpx format (waiting for review by Apple). Facebook and twitter integration and more social options will come with the next version (working on it).
