With Google celebrating the invention of the barcode today (the patent was granted on October 7, 1952), I thought it would be the perfect time to introduce the free iPhone app pic2shop.
pic2shop reads barcodes from product packages in real-time (from the live video), then looks up prices at many online retailers. Just hold the barcode in front of the iPhone camera, and wait a second or two while the code is scanned. It even works the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G!
With one tap, you can visit the product page, read consumer reviews, product specifications, etc. Or email yourself the link for future reference.
We are constantly expanding our product database. Food items will be supported very soon, but books, dvds, electronics, appliances, and many other items already work great.
