A Natural Way to Get Things Done
HelpMeDo Lite features a genuinely new way of helping you to achieve your targets, using the latest research in behavioral economics.
Far from being rational economic agents, most people have two conflicting sides to their decision making and prioritization. The planner works out targets based on long term objectives, whereas the doer is more short sighted, seeking more immediate satisfaction and enjoyment. You know you have to do the tax return, but right now there’s the game on TV.
Instead of just listing targets, in HelpMeDo Lite users also create motivators*, which are extra incentives for achieving the target. These include a treat when the target is done, a forfeit when it is not, an email to friends to publicize the target, and a bet by email that the target will be done. These motivators re-enforce long term objectives and help focus short term attention on them. The application is designed to motivate rather than just organize, and to achieve rather than just list.
*HelpMeDo Lite only allows you to create 2 types of motivators, treats and emails.
