Office on the go |

Most of us can sympathize with the feeling of having a looming deadline, huge document to prepare, and the need to work on it every moment possible. Now, many word-based apps are allowing iPhone users to access their documents from anywhere, maximizing the time that can be spent on such projects (and thus minimizing the amount of gray hairs grown). However, since there are so many Word or Office apps to choose from, how does one know where to begin? Here are the three apps that have led the pack, along with some information as to help you make the best decision for your document needs.
1. Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite
(currently on sale for $12.99, full price is $19.99)
- allows you to: edit Word and Excel documents, transfer desktop files via WiFi, access MobileMe iDisk accounts, e-mail files from iPhone, mount device as a drive
- also includes Advanced Word Document Processing and Advanced Excel Spreadsheet Editor
- Average rating for current version: 4 stars
- Users say: some bugs but the most functional Office app out there, best offering of editing tools, only issue is with the fact that you must forward e-mails through the QuickOffice site to be able to open and access attachments, wish they could access .docx documents, needs customer support
2. Documents To Go with Exchange Attachments
($9.99)
- allows you to: receive and send (over Microsoft Exchange), edit, create, and view Word docs; receive, send, and view Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, iWork, other files; includes desktop app for 2-way file sync over WiFi
- also includes Microsoft Word Editing
- Average rating for current version: 3 stars
- Users say: wish there was spell check, app/interface needs some updating, opening attachments are limited to MSExchange, no .docx support, but very good if you just need something that allows you to view and edit Word documents on-the-go, needs customer support
