Handy little app. Just wish it also showed those who were offline. :)

SHAPE Services on September 2nd, 2008 at 5:26 pm

Dear Beth, please go to Settings bookmark -> User Interface tab -> check the box “Show offline contacts” and you will be able to see your offline contacts in the contact list.

Adi R on September 2nd, 2008 at 9:02 pm

My concerns are:
1. Where are my passwords kept, to my Yahoo, MSN and Google accounts. Are they sent to SHAPE Services servers? What kind of security guarantees are there!
2. It still doesn’t work when I am out and about, since no background apps on the iPhone. So people can’t reach me, any solution in-sight for this issue?

andrew on September 3rd, 2008 at 2:23 am

i downloaded it through itunes, but its not showing up on my iphone… i synced it and i saw it download to it, but nothing happend… any ideas?

Felipe on September 3rd, 2008 at 2:41 am

how can I have my contats from msn message on this app?

miron on September 3rd, 2008 at 5:16 am

nice amd useful app, but throwing errors messages about parsing error or somthing, and put you offline. Happen too often. (ipod touch)

Jeremy on September 3rd, 2008 at 9:13 am

Not a bad application, although it is a bit of a pain when the application shuts itself down (happened on a few occassions so far) and you have to re-enter account details.

Would be wayyy cooler if it was able to show icons, picture or photos in the text field

GSBTom on September 3rd, 2008 at 9:28 pm

Crashes a lot, doesn’t keep your online status when you close the app, seems to always log on to AIM even when I disable the setting. Pretty buggy right now.
Forgot to add, no contact groups

IphoneGeek on September 4th, 2008 at 5:51 am

Nice Nifty App to have.

SHAPE Services on September 4th, 2008 at 11:37 am

Hello Adi, the passwords are saved on the handheld locally. Passwords are transfered as well encrypted to our side. We do not store any information about the user, his login or password, the license for the app is all we have. Let me mention that IM+ All-in-One messenger is working perfectly for other mobile platforms for several years already and we have never received any complaints and never had any issues with password saving.
As you know there are no 3rd party apps that can work in background mode at all. We are working on the workaround to forward the messeges to email when the user is offline.

SHAPE Services on September 4th, 2008 at 11:44 am

andrew, please check if you have enough space on your iPhone. Also please make sure that you downloaded the application to iTunes, then synced the iPhone and transferred the app to the iPhone. Maybe you should reproduce the situation with the help of iTunes user’s guide.

SHAPE Services on September 4th, 2008 at 11:49 am

Felipe, to see your contact list from MSN messenger, just login to MSN service in IM+ with the same account that you use on the desktop. We will also add ability to view and edit contact information in the future version.

SHAPE Services on September 4th, 2008 at 11:50 am

miron, thanks for your feedback. We are working on improving the connection stability.

SHAPE Services on September 4th, 2008 at 11:52 am

Jeremy, that’s an issue on our side. We will work on it and fix with the latest release. Thanks!

andre on September 5th, 2008 at 4:01 am

its a nice apps actually… The best UI for messenger apps i’ve ever seen.
But like miron said, disconnecting for every few minutes is nasty. Also its hang up frequently on my 2.0.2 firmware…

Cant wait the new release for fixing this bug…

Alex on September 5th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

Love this app but if i move from “inbox” back to the contacts section the app closes it’s easy to re-create the error it’s not a “once in a while”

Quite annoying to say the least! when it’s fixed this app will be perfect! next to getting contact icons…… but as long as it doesn’t keep crashing (every 4 messages) then i’ll be happy!

josdanmx on September 5th, 2008 at 9:17 pm

admin on September 8th, 2008 at 4:02 pm

You can download any application for iPhone only if you have OS version 2.0. You are required to go to Apple Store, download the app, and transfer it to your iPhone through iTunes.

daniel on September 8th, 2008 at 7:38 pm

I have a cuestion for shape services: when I conect using im+ with my iphone I can open al conversation and talk with the contact, but I can’t see the answer. What’s the problem, what can I do?

My on September 8th, 2008 at 9:23 pm

I dowloaded the application, then when I click on it, it shows the interface and a few seconds later, it pop out and come back to a main window. Would you tell me what’s wrong with it?

VJ on September 8th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

I’ve downloaded the app from iphone 3G using the AppStore. I see the icon on the phone but when i tap it, it opens for few seconds and goes back to home screen on the phone. Please help.

SHAPE Services on September 9th, 2008 at 11:23 am

Dear everyone, we have released a new version of IM+ All-in-One Messenger which includes a lot of bug fixes based on your feedbacks. You can update at App Store. Please note you have to uninstall the previous version completely and then install a new one.

SHAPE Services on September 9th, 2008 at 11:25 am

Dear Daniel, My and VJ, please update to the latest IM+ version at App Store.
Also, My and VJ, please check if you have enough memory space.

Miron on September 10th, 2008 at 12:30 am

I downloaded the new version today, and it looks a little better.
But, unfortunately, after 3 minutes of chatting, the application closed itself, and all the accounts I had (google & msn) where deleted!
Still can’t use the app until it will be more stable.
Keep the good work, and keep working of bug fixing :)

Werner on September 12th, 2008 at 1:30 am

if I try to add an contact a group must be selected. The grouplist is empty. How to get a group?

SHAPE Services on September 12th, 2008 at 11:53 am

Miron, please launch IM+, enter your login and password in any account and then exit the application. Your information will be saved. You can repeat the same with other accounts. And we are working on the stability issues. Thanks for the feedback)

SHAPE Services on September 12th, 2008 at 12:00 pm

Werner, please launch the service you are using on the desktop of your PC. Then create a group there. After that this group will appear in the contact list of the appropriate service in IM+ when you launch it on your iPhone and you will be able to add a contact. Unfortunately it’s not possible to add a group in IM+.

nimai on September 12th, 2008 at 2:16 pm

how do u download without regietering for a apple store account?

admin on September 12th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

nimai, you cannot download from App Store without registration.

Matthew on September 13th, 2008 at 6:40 am

Can i download this directly onto my ipod touch from the safari web browser without having to use the computer?

poka on September 13th, 2008 at 7:20 am

apple has been released FW 2.1, is there any new version of IM+ which support Push notification?

deztroyd on September 14th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

even after the 2.1 update I still can’t connect using this app. Removing the old version then installing the new version doest help any.

The update ruins the user experiance. The first release worked. After this experiance I wouldn’t pay for anything this developer does in the future.

rebooting the iPhone seemed to have solved the connection problem. I’m also running the 2.1FW.

SHAPE Services on September 15th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

Matthew, you can download IM+ from your iPod Touch directly without using the PC if the iPod SW version is 2.0 or higher. You need to have App Store installed on your iPod. Go to App Store, search for IM+ and install. You won’t be able to download IM+ from Safari browser at all.

SHAPE Services on September 15th, 2008 at 3:37 pm

Dear poka, IM+ works on the 2.1 version, still the Push notification support in the development. We plan to implement it in future.

jayr on September 16th, 2008 at 6:41 am

is there a way to stay online when you go back to main menu?

rcarson on September 17th, 2008 at 9:10 pm

I have just downloaded the application from my iphone and im assuming its the lastest version as i downloaded it on sept 15th …now when i try to connect it says connection error please check your internet connection. rogers told me to contact apple as it was an application error …can someone please help me….. also it there anyway to stay logged on to msn and use other applications on the phone or do you have to relog in every time

ooa on September 18th, 2008 at 9:50 pm

i did not understand whether it is completely free or not? Thanx

Niklas on September 23rd, 2008 at 8:47 am

I like this app, but the “auto Connecting” function does not do it’s work to 100%. Meaning I often have to go to a web-page then back to the IM Plus application to get connected. If I do not start a webpage I get a Connection error. I do not know if this is connected to the operator (Telia) here in Sweden or if it is a bugg.

Would be good if the app would stay online in the background… or would this drain the battery?

SHAPE Services on September 26th, 2008 at 2:42 pm

jayr, unfortunately you cannot stay online when you come back to the main menu. This option is call background mode and it is disabled for any application running on the iPhone. That’s the way Apple works.

SHAPE Services on September 26th, 2008 at 2:46 pm

rcarson and Niklas, we are aware that auto connection doesn’t always work perfectly. The workaround for this is load any page in the Safari so that the connection is established and than launch IM+.

SHAPE Services on September 26th, 2008 at 2:48 pm

ooa, IM+ is completely free. Download and enjoy.
Please note that Internet connection is required, if you are using your data plan, charges will occur, though it will be free over the Wi-Fi.

miked on September 28th, 2008 at 6:16 pm

Any chance to add a feature to be able to choose for screen names of contacts to use either their emaill address or their screen name that would be awesome!!

SHAPE Services on September 30th, 2008 at 12:31 pm

Miked, this feature is not in our nearest plans for improvements.

Tim on October 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm

This is a very cool application but it seems that it can not run in the background when I am using Mail or other apps. Any plans to add this functionality?

SHAPE Services on October 2nd, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Dear Tim, no application can run in the background according to Apple settings for the iPhone. When it becomes available, we will surely implement it.

thedevilsjester on October 3rd, 2008 at 7:50 am

Is there any plans to implement Skype in the iPhone native version?

SHAPE Services on October 3rd, 2008 at 12:13 pm

thedevilsjester, I’ve already answeres this question here http://iphoneapplicationlist.com/2007/09/06/im-for-skype-2 Yes, we are thinking of implementing IM+ for Skype as a native application.

dj kzee on October 20th, 2008 at 3:56 pm

i love this application. But i hope that u can rectify the problem of IM getting connected continuously and as the others were saying it’ll still go in offline mode. i have offeended some of my frens for not replying to thier MSN msgs. the actual fact was that i was not even awaer that the msgs were in the inbox and when i try to open the the msg it went into offline mode

admin on October 21st, 2008 at 11:24 am

dj kzee, please download the latest version 1.2 from the App Store. Please keep the autoconnect option disabled. If it is enabled, disable it before installing.

Jason Sjobeck on October 25th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

I have emailed the authors twice & they have been helpful, but at the same time, there are huge, I mean huge, problems with the architecture of this app’. All connections go to their server (ip-70-38-24-17.static.privatedns.com) and then to the destination server from there. Not only that, all connections are in clear text. Any one who knows what “tethereal” is can read all IM’s. This is a deal-breaker for our company. Some people might not mind some else reading all their IM’s (ie: FBI, CIA, NSA, Verizon, ATT, etc) but there is no way we are going to allow this. I really like the app’, so I hope these are resolved (ie: no intermediary & SSL enabled/working) and then we’re back in again. Thanks all. Cheers.

nathanM on October 27th, 2008 at 10:40 am

is there a way to stay logged on when u close the app because if there was it would make it a very good app

SHAPE Services on October 27th, 2008 at 3:29 pm

Jason, we appreciate your feedback. Our developers are going to put as much of their efforts to make the application absolutely secure. Thank again and keep in touch.

SHAPE Services on October 27th, 2008 at 3:30 pm

nathanM, I agree that would be great. Unfortunately Apple still doesn’t allow applications staying in the background. As soon as it is allowed we will implement this.

SHAPE Services on November 20th, 2008 at 5:37 pm

Dear Users! Now IM+ allows to stay in background mode thanks to new IM Push Feature. You can purchase the improved IM+ in App Store.
