StockWatch at this February 29, 2008 URL was a web app from Toughturtle. The original archived article links iphone.toughturtle.com/stockwatch and describes a watchlist with detailed stock information and portfolio gain-or-loss figures. That developer address identifies the subject more precisely than the widely reused name StockWatch.
A watchlist and a portfolio answer different questions
The original feature list mentioned price ranges, trading volume, market capitalization and earnings per share. It also described adding holdings for stocks being watched and switching the display to a portfolio’s all-time gain or loss. These are the capabilities advertised in the historical record, not verified current market-data features.
A watchlist can contain a company simply because you want to follow it. A portfolio figure has a different meaning because it relates to a recorded holding and the inputs used to value it. Keeping those views separate helps explain the app’s purpose: the same stock can be interesting to observe without representing an investment you actually own.
Read the data claim in its period
The old article used real-time language for its gain-or-loss display. The saved page does not document a surviving data supplier, current exchange coverage or present refresh delays. A number that changes on a screen is not enough to establish the accuracy or timeliness of its source.
For historical research, a screenshot is more informative when the observation date, currency and portfolio assumptions are recorded with it. A percentage by itself cannot show whether fees, cash movements or other adjustments were included. This article makes no claim about StockWatch’s handling of those details and offers no investment recommendation.
Part of the early Safari ecosystem
Apple’s 2007 third-party application announcement centered on Safari and web standards, providing context for this pre-App-Store tool. Current operation of the old Toughturtle address is unverified. This is new historical coverage, not a recovered review or an endorsement of a modern namesake. Find related histories in our app archive.
