IM+ Lite: free and very capable instant messenger for iPhone

Posted in Social Networking on 15 Dec 2009

We blogged about IM+ All-in-One Messenger a while ago. Today I want to introduce to you IM+ Lite — an ad supported version of IM+ that was updated this weekend. We spent a lot of time trying various free and paid multi-IM clients for iPhone, and the winner in free messenger client category is the IM+ Lite app.

IM+ Lite features the same list of popular messaging services as full version has, except Skype and Facebook. It also supports Twitter and provides extra features like built-in browser, speech recognition (as in-app purchase) and Emoji.

Like the full version IM+ Lite allows its users to send and receive photos, videos (3Gs only), dictate and send voice messages as MP3 files which can be played anywhere.

iPad applications or what we expect from iPad apps

iPad applications or what we expect from iPad apps

First of all congratulations everybody that the wait and hype is finally over. All of us at iPhoneApplicationList.com are very excited about the new device. We see a lot of opinions in the press that it looks like “overgrown giant iPhone” or that there are no new features on the iPad compared to iPhone.

I do not think so! The tremendous difference  is exactly in the screen size, content (movies, newspapers, books) made for big screen and WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT — APPS for big screen! Developers, just think about the opportunity of developing and using new innovative interfaces with huge multi-touch OLED beauty! This is a new platform even if it looks same as iPhone and huge challenge to get your applications right and discover all the new use cases of the device.

Do not get mislead. We are going to see a success of iPad.

Google Voice comes to iPhone!!!

Posted in Social Networking, Tools & Utilities on Jan, 26

There have been a lot of press all last year about Apple/Google battle over Google Voice app.  I even wrote a blog post on how to use Google Voice through web-service. But a lot of things wasn’t working right through web service. For example, making calls was a two-step process and the outbound caller ID feature didn’t work, meaning that whoever received the call couldn’t see who was calling, which is one of the most compelling features of Google Voice.

Google just launched a new Google Voice web-service specifically built for iPhone users. Just point your iPhone browser to http://m.google.com/voice and you will see a nicely designed interface which looks and behaves like native app and overcomes previously existing limitations. You can also save it as an icon on your Main Menu so launching Google Voice will be one-step process.  It works very well for me, it is free, definitely worth trying!

Cash Cab drives its way to the iPhone

Posted in Games on Jan, 22

Cash Cab, Discovery’s trivia game show that tests the random, lucky few of NYC who happen to be in the right cab at the right time, is pretty much a TV staple. It’s pretty hard not to get sucked into the show and want to test yourself on the trivia. Now, you don’t have to wait for the show to come on to be able to participate; Discovery and Capcom have made Cash Cab accessible to everyone with an iPhone or iPod Touch through its new Cash Cab game app. Though you don’t actually get to keep the money you win on your taxi trip, it’s still a good way to waste time and learn some fun facts. Especially since the app is currently on sale for $0.99, there is no better time to take a ride in the Cash Cab than right now!
